Latest in Series of Christian Church Fires in UK Takes Place in Kilburn

The 135-year-old Kilburn Methodist Church in Kilburn, England, United Kingdom, burned down in the early morning hours of Friday, 11 September.
Firefighters were called to the scene, and nearby houses had to be evacuated. Six fire engines battled the flames for hours before the fire—which locals have described as an ‘inferno’—was put out around 4 am. Locals were then allowed to return to their homes.
The church building was in the process of being converted into an apartment complex when the fire broke out. An initial investigation by local police and the fire department was unable to determine the cause of the fire due to the extensive damage it caused to the structure. The building was thought to be in danger of collapsing, which prevented authorities from properly examining it. As of now, however, the church building in Kilburn is still standing.
It is yet to be determined if this was a case of arson, failure of the electrical wiring, or a natural accident. Thankfully, no person was injured in the church fire.
Kilburn Is the Latest in a Series of Christian Church Fires in the UK
In July of this year, two historic Christian churches caught fire in the same month in the United Kingdom.
First, the Pitsmoor Christ Church in Sheffield, England, UK, went up in flames. Police determined that the 176-year-old religious building was the victim of an arson attack. No arrests have been made in the case, and no suspect has been publicly identified.
Then, at the end of the month, a major fire broke out at St Andrew’s Church in Leicester, England, UK. That case was deemed an accident by the police, not arson.
At the start of this year, St Mark’s Church in London, UK, suffered a similar fate. The parish had stood for over 600 years, but sadly, it is now closed for repairs. That case has received virtually no media coverage, and there has been no public update on the cause of the fire.

Not only in the UK. Here in the US several Christian churches have burned. I remembered one this spring in NYC because it was not far from my penfriend’s home.
The churches in England are mostly empty making them easy targets by refugees. If you wanted to protect your churches you’d actually have people there watching over them.
